What I'm here to talk about is Warm and Cold Market recruiting, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with going OFFLINE. It's just that I generally like to attract my Warm Market to me, because I find my closing ratio's are much higher that way. MOST of my warm market.....has joined an opportunity of mine by now. (But they approached me....not the other way around.)
Here's How I do it:
The first and simplest thing you can and should do. Is simply notify people that you are in business for yourself. This does NOT mean that you should give them a sales presentation, or break out a white board and start drawing circles and giving the "why this is not a pyramid" talk to your friends and relatives when they come over to your house.
A simple, "Yeah we started a home business and are having some fun with it learning both online and offline marketing." is all that you need to insert into your casual conversations.
If they ask you questions? Answer them short and succinct but play it off like you really aren't interested in them joining. Talk about the awesome and talented people you are working with, but never mention or hint that you want your friend/relative to sign up. Keep this brief and move on. (They will respect you way more for not trying to recruit them, and it may cause them to feel "left out" and induce them to sign up. But getting them to sign up right now is actually NOT your goal.)
If they REALLY press you for information. You can either show them the website, or give them the address, and have them come back to you at a later time if they have more questions. (Then get back to doing whatever else it was they were invited over for. This will almost irritate them why you are NOT trying to sell them. They will begin to suspect that you know something they don't.....and you DO.)
Ok so, you've notified them. They KNOW you are in business. But most likely they aren't going to join you at this time. (Although they have at least thought about it in their mind. Your "Jedi Mind Tricks" are hard at work.) If they do join right now....AWESOME! By you not "chasing them" they are actually more qualified because they are pursuing you....which means they are probably self-motivated.
***MEANWHILE......STUDY, STUDY, AND STUDY INTERNET MARKETING.***
WHY? Because it's passive. It works when you sleep. Your splash pages never get tired, they never complain of being overworked, and they are constantly being exposed to new potential prospects 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. Even when YOU are NOT working. Building that LIST is the BEST and most powerful way you can leverage both your TIME and MONEY.
Building that LIST is the BEST and most powerful way you can leverage both your TIME and MONEY. The main thing I might add to this is a lack of response being a lack of self-confidence. Often times people have learned a lot of these skills, but because they don't know they are ahead of the curve, they don't exhibit an air of confidence.
So, one key is to learn as much as possible in private, and share as much as possible in public. That way you project an image of teacher rather than student. Of course, you do always want to give credit to those who share enlightening information with you as well.
So after that let's talk about Warm Market recruiting alittle. If you had started your marketing by making a "memory jogger" and then chasing these people down and giving them full blown presentations. More than likely your sign up ratio would be dismal. You'd spend a TON of time hearing the words "NO THANK YOU" and after it was all said and done you might have 2-3 sign ups. Your marketing education and value would not have increased even slightly, and now you'd be looking at Square 1.
By using a strategy of "Notifying" and then "Playing it cool" while at the same time engaging in Internet Marketing Education and Application, you "Warmed Up" your "Warm Market" and meanwhile went about your Internet Marketing progress.
You gained tremendous education working with fellow leaders, you studied marketing materials, and your value to not only yourself, but to your prospects increased. You took consistent action and your hard work and Education paid off and you built a team. In addition you may have simply invested in a good investment program or a good marketing program such as Spiderweb like I did and built up a good monthly income, or maybe both!
Money Talks. There's no bones about it.
But now....your "Warmed Up" ..."Warm Market".....sees the money..... and they remember you "notifying them about it and not really seeming to care if they joined or not".....and now they feel "dumb" for not having signed up when you first told them.
So what do they do?
They join you NOW! (And if they still don't sign up......then it ain't EVER happening. Let them be, they must really enjoy their 9 to 5's.....or something......jeez. )
This is what I like to call a Win/Win situation and you have made the most of your time and energy.
COLD MARKET:
A fellow marketer once told me one of the most powerful sentences of Internet Marketing
He said to me, "Never do business....with someone who doesn't do business....with you."
That single sentence...ERUPTED my cold market into a never ending list of people joining my opportunities.
1. If your hair stylist isn't interested in joining your business or working with you or "opting in" to your list. Find a new one...there's millions of them out there. One of them WILL join you. (My hairstylist is in my business)
2. My aesthitician is in my business
3. The girl at our dentist office is in our business.
4. The lady at the grocery store keeps asking me how I manage to shop at random times of the day and I'm always walking around in flip flops with two phones in my hands. (She'll be joining.)
5. Many...many waiters are in my business.
6. The guy who sold me my SUV is in my business.
7. The lady who owns the tanning salon we use....is in our business.
8. The mail lady.....is DEFINITELY in our business.
9. The Nail Salon owners that my wife uses are in our business.
10. Everyone......who we do business with....will be in our business.....or we'll find someone else.
They ALL eventually ask you something to the effect of "So what do you do?"
"Oh we work from home full time, and we teach people how to make money."
..................
It's as easy as that.
What NOT to do while Cold Market prospecting:
Dress up in slacks, shirt and a tie. (omg you look like you have a dayjob and everyone else has one too.......FORGET the "professional" look. Nobody wants that. In fact people are desperately trying to escape that....and they will want to escape from you too!)
What TO do while Cold Market Prospecting:
Walk around in a t-shirt, shorts, flip flops and a big giant grin on your face. (EVERYONE wants to be "relaxed all the time" and "happy-go-lucky".)
I DO....wear my T-shirt, shorts, flip flops....with a big old grin on my face and some one will finally ask me:
"So what do you do?"
"I work from home, and teach people how to make money."
That's simple huh?

Knowledge Is Power
Are you posting daily on forums and not seeing a "list building" on your splash page?
I can almost guarantee it is because people are not viewing you as an Authority Figure, that can Offer Solutions to them.
And the sole reason for that, is you are probably in need of either:
A. More personal growth
or
B. More Marketing Education
Communicate with known leaders, ask questions in forums, read books and add these to your arsenal of knowledge. here aresome books that you can gain a lot of knowledge with.

All in
If you play poker then you will understand the following post. If you have held a pair of queens and you wonder if anybody else at the table held anything higher then you wonder if I play does the gamble justify the reward. the same applies to online marketing. If you have a winning concept but feel that someone has a better one then you what do you do? Fold your idea or put your chips in the pot and roll with what ever may come? Or do you push your opponent to the limit and make them make the next move? If you are like me you push your opponent into the corner and make them think about what to do playing for all of their chips. I believe if you have an idea and you truly believe in it then you go all the way with it and put your opponent to the task of either calling you or folding and getting out of the way. The more you believe you have the better hand or idea the more you will convince your opponent that you are stronger than they are and sooner or later they will fold.
The Reason I post
I am a 44 year old father of two and I have been in the Internet marketing business for about 1 year now and I am constantly learning new ideas and researching as I go. My wife introduced me to this amazing world of potential income. The funny thing is that I never realized that this was out there. I was brought up to think that we have to work for forty hours a week for someone else to make a decent living. But now I am finding that this not the truth at all. A little hard work and a gathering of knowledge can help produce a self generated income without giving others your sweat and blood to earn it. Now I AM NOT SAYING THAT THERE IS ANYTHING WRONG WITH THIS if you are dedicated to the forty hour work week, but for me I know there is more out there. I guess this eludes back to the quote "You must think your way out of the box before you can think outside the box“ - Bill Weber.
